The Fascinating Glasgow Science Centre

Overlooking the Clyde in all its glory lies the magnificent titanium arc of the Glasgow Science Centre and within this lies the hub of knowledge, the Science Mall. The Science Centre spans over three floors crammed with exhibitions waiting to be investigated, with unspoken worlds, live science shows, interactive workshops, labs and the monster of them all, the renowned Scottish Power Planetarium which is based on the first floor of the Glasgow Science Center. At the planetarium the night sky and its mysterious world are brought alive in its true honesty as was seen so many thousands of years ago. The reality of this privilege also brings home the main fact that due to urbanization and all it entails the end result is for most of the Western World dull skies, starless nights a galaxy some of us forget exists, but due to the Scottish Power Planetarium’s controlled environment and the mind-blowing Zeiss Starmaster projector the night sky once again becomes alive in its wonder!

The magical experience of science is carried on through the Glasgow science center’s first floor where visitors can partake in workshops, undergo a science theatrical live show or come into contact with tons of hands-on exhibitions, then on the second floor where more workshops can be taken an unbelievable experience with astoundingly amusing results can be seen through creating 3D models of different body parts or morphing which causes your outward appearance to change instantaneously. Lastly, on the third floor you will find more exhibits such as the indoor tornado and the whirlpool to name a few with the mammoth Plasma Globe which allows you to create indoor lightning, not forgetting the unique bubble wall.

The Glasgow Science Centre Imax theatre also holds one of the most mind blowing screens which has been described and said to be larger than a 5-a-side football pitch or equivalent of an eight storey high building and carries a digital sound system with an immense power unbeknown of 12 000 watt’s. This amazing piece of digital art shows films in 2D and 3D format using its capabilities through its camera to show the entire world system like it has never been seen before and this again is within the Imax theatre in the Glasgow science Centre, a definite must see!

Lastly the Glasgow Tower cabin is set to unrival anything you have ever experienced in this rollercoaster ride of science glory, within two and a half minutes ride you will be transported to views of Glasgow city beyond normal human comprehension. The Glasgow Tower is open during normal times under usual weather conditions though should the winds pick up over forty miles per hour the tower has to be closed.
